Programmes organised around communication tasks

General English develops balanced ability through situations adults meet outside the classroom. Conversation groups give more time to turn-taking, clarification and responding without a prepared script. Workplace writing examines the tone and structure of messages, updates and requests. Presentation practice covers opening, signposting, explaining visuals, handling questions and recovering when the exact word is unavailable.

Each six-week block has a small set of outcomes that can be practised repeatedly. Teachers adapt examples to the group while maintaining the level focus. Learners receive concise review material and suggestions for using English between sessions. Progress is discussed through tasks the learner can perform more clearly or independently, rather than a promise of instant fluency.

What happens between sessions

Learners receive a focused review rather than an unrelated worksheet bundle. It may include a short listening passage, useful phrases from class, a rewritten message or preparation for the next speaking task. The purpose is to make live class time more productive and help new language return in a different context.

Teachers adapt examples to the group's goals while keeping personal and workplace information appropriately private. Progress comments describe communication tasks, patterns and next actions. They do not promise instant fluency or reduce development to attendance alone; regular participation, deliberate practice and opportunities to use English outside class all matter.
